Home Entertainment Keeping Up with KeKe Palmer

KeKe Palmer is indeed one of the busiest entertainers in young Hollywood; whether it’s in front of the camera or behind the microphone, this 22-year-old south suburban Chicago native is enjoying a solid career and shows no signs of slowing down.

Although her first major credited role on the big screen was in Barbershop 2: Back in Business, other film and television roles soon followed; however, it was her co-starring turn alongside Hollywood heavy hitters Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne in 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee that propelled her into stardom.akeelah

A couple years later, young KeKe took a bite out of the Nickelodeon “teen-scene” pie and landed the lead role in “True Jackson, VP,” a sitcom about a teenager who is the vice president of a fashion design company.

But seemingly right before our eyes, Ms. Palmer grew up and accomplished what is sometimes difficult for lots of child actors—making a seamless transition from kid to adult star.

Noticeably comfortable in her adulthood, 4.5 million viewers watched her kill it onscreen in 2013 as singer Chilli in the much-talked about CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, one of VH1’s highest-rated projects to date.

And let’s not forgot her history-making “firsts” in 2014 as the first black Cinderella on Broadway and as the youngest talk show host ever with “Just KeKe,” her short-lived entertainment gabfest on the BET network.

KeKe Palmer has been on her grind for a while now and it is now this starlet’s time to really shine. We wish nothing but continued success for this young Black Chicago Woman who is truly holding her own in Hollywood.

Catch KeKe Palmer in the series premiere of “Scream Queens,” Tuesday, Sept. 22 on FOX.
