If I could teach you how to add an extra hour to your day would you be interested? An extra hour a day is an extra seven hours a week and an extra 28 hours a month. Imagine earning almost an extra work week each month! So what’s the secret? It’s simple. Create your own morning ritual. A ritual is used in religious circles to describe a solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order. Design your day by designing your morning with these four simple steps:
Wake up an hour earlier. There is something enchanting to get up before the rest of the world. An extra hour in the morning before the family and world awakes can produce a sense of control over your day. The quiet time will stimulate the brain to focus and concentrate on the tasks at hand. It will give you time to relax and think about your day and week. The Proverbs 31 woman was described as waking up early in the morning. Jesus would slip away to spend time with God before sunlight and away from the masses.
Create A Space of Your Own. It’s a place that’s reserved for you. Everyone in the house can be trained to respect this section of the house and to know it is yours — and yours alone. It’s a place where you meet God and the both of you work on your dreams and destiny. Explore buying a nice chair or chaise with your favorite colors and pillows. Rotate the color scheme as the seasons change. Make it special. Music sets the tone for the day. Start off with soft music. Create excitement by playing music that pumps you up. Keep a journal, Bible, calendar and a stack of your favorite books for that month in your “ritual zone.” There is something incredibly rewarding about reading your devotional. I enjoy walking through the Bible. Each morning, I read from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. God’s Words leap off the page and impart tremendous wisdom into my life daily. I journal passages that I believe are directly sent to impact my life. Read aloud affirmations to create an atmosphere of gratitude.
Indulge in Your Favorite Beverage. I like lemon water with Stevia, a natural sweetener. It gets your digestive juices going and creates an atmosphere of reward. It could be a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream or an international coffee in a special coffee cup. Indulge yourself in a simple pleasure.
Create a home spa in your shower. Each month treat yourself to a new and different fragrance from Soul Purpose or Bath and Body. Reward yourself with a special scrub or body butter. Daily indulgences create a sense of excitement and purpose. Remember, it’s just for you.
By creating a ritual for you and God, you take control of your life and add precious moments to each day. As a result, you are more productive and focused everywhere else, which gives you more daily time to enjoy life. Let me know what rituals you enjoy on a daily basis.
